Being part of the modern workforce means navigating the daily bureaucracy and situations that companies have Human Resources to handle. We think workers deserve independent HR to demystify what it means to be an employee, which is why we created Individual HR Services.

Meet with an experienced, independent HR professional when you need to, and get help navigating things like sticky situations at work, understanding your benefits, resume feedback and interview coaching, and every HR question in between.

How does it work?

You’ll start by submitting a request explaining the situation or subject you’re needing help navigating.

We review each request to make sure that we’re the right people to help you, and we’ll reach out to you via email to schedule your session once it’s reviewed.

For session pricing, we categorize requests for Individual HR Services into two tiers based on their nature and complexity. All of our sessions are customized to your request and may touch on multiple aspects of your employment. We aim for our services to provide you with information and guidance in one session, but you can schedule follow-ups.

Types of Services Offered

We’ve provided some examples of our most requested services and the information we’d ideally like to receive in your request prior to meeting and the suggested meeting time. Because of the individual nature of each request, we’ll figure out which tier based on complexity when your request is reviewed.

Tier One

Tier 1 requests are typically less complex and are more of the foundational aspects of being an employee. We highly encourage scheduling at least 30 minutes for your request, but we do offer an option for a short call with Tier 1 requests for accessibility. Sessions range from $20 - $70 with expediting available.

    • According to the CDC, 1 in 4 adults in the United States lives with a disability. With disabilities impacting day-to-day life, there’s no way it doesn’t impact work. We help our clients understand what their options are related to their specific disability.

    • Many companies have DEIBA initiatives and programs, and we love to educate our clients how to maximize the programs available to them.

    • If you’re dealing with a difficult or unchartered issue with a team member, manager, vendor, or member of the leadership team, figuring out the best way to approach and resolve it can be daunting. We can talk through what’s happening and provide solutions and options in order to effectively manage it.

    • Suggested session length: 60 minutes

    • Whether you’ve done your job for a long time or you’re being offered or asked to take on more responsibility, understanding your job description will not only allow you to be a higher performer, it will also help you set boundaries for your own work/life stability.

    • Recommended session length: 60 minutes

    • If you’re in the job market, you know it can be overwhelming and hard to navigate. We’re here to help you with that! By booking a session with us, you’ll get personalized help in your job search, such as interview coaching, what to ask for in compensation, and communicating with organizations and hiring managers.

    • Recommended session length: 60 minutes

    • As a new hire, you have new benefits and need to understand them as it relates to you. That means your own personal health conditions, your family situation, and your goals. We’re able to break down your options and help you understand them so you can get the most out of your benefits.

    • Information to include in request: Benefits information, who you want to include on your benefits (spouse, partner, dependents, etc.), any pertinent details to allow personalized advice

    • Suggested session length: 60 minutes

    • Companies that offer benefits have to go through a process called Open Enrollment each year. This gives employees the chance to make changes to their insurances, dependents, and other elections. Benefits can get complicated, especially considering the needs of a family or long-term goals. We partner with our clients to navigate what’s offered and how it could look in your situation.

    • If you get a paycheck, it’s important to understand what it means. Our extensive payroll processing experience makes us able to demystify payroll and how it affects you.

    • If you’re being put on a Performance Improvement Plan, or you’re a manager putting a team member on a Performance Improvement Plan, we’ll help you navigate the contents of the plan, communications, and your options.

    • While we are experts in Human Resources, you are the expert in your field and that’s why we don’t write resumes for you. Instead, we help our clients with their resumes and candidate presentation. We’ll take a look at your existing resume and provide feedback to help you improve it and make it more accessible to employers and jobs you’re applying to.

    • Whether or not we agree with a termination of employment, we still have to navigate it. We provide HR translation and post-employment resources.

    • Learning you are being laid off from your job is overwhelming and stressful. We want to help you understand what your options are related to unemployment and severance.

TierTwo

Tier 2 requests tend to be more complex and require additional preparation and research to provide an effective session. Sessions range from $50 - $120 with expediting available.

    • If you’re happy in your current career but need help determining where to go next, we can help with that! We personalize your advising session to guide you from where you are, where you’re going, and how to get there.

    • Recommended session length: 60 minutes

    • Life has a way of changing, and that may mean that the career we started out with no longer serves us. That’s okay! Maybe you’ve realized you need to make a change to your current career, and you’d like some guidance on how to get to where you want to go. Or maybe you’re lacking direction and need help discerning which way to go. We love helping our clients succeed in pivoting their career to something that better suits and serves who they are now.

    • It’s time for you to move on to another role or another season in life, and you’d like to leave on the best terms possible. We can help you prepare for the conversations, communications, and planning that comes with exiting gracefully.

    • Communication is a beast that we have to deal with day in and out. If you’re struggling to create a message or communicate effectively, we love providing advice to help you be thorough, professional, and credible.

    • Whether you’re on the receiving end of offensive behavior or have had allegations made against you, we help you navigate through the communications, investigation, and possible outcomes.

    • If you’re involved in an investigation at work, it can be invaluable to have an HR Advisor helping you through the process who’s looking out for you and is totally independent from your company. Our Advisors provide support in all kinds of investigative situations, including at times when an employee has had allegations made against them.

    • You’ve found yourself needing to take extended time off work, or you need to help care for a family member who is dealing with a health issue. Our services educate and provide resources on leave and what your possible options could be.

    • You’re needing more of something in your job, like pay, time off, flexibility, or something you may not even be aware of, and you’d like some help figuring out the best way to ask for it. We can help you create messaging and supporting data points so that your request has a much better chance of being successful.

    • Suggested session length: 60 minutes

    • You’re thrilled to have an offer for a new job or a promotion, but it’s not quite what you’re looking for or you want a pro to help you make sure you’re maximizing your compensation. We can help you understand the offer in its entirety and approach negotiating for something else.

    • Information to include in request: Offer letter, resume, benefits information, details of why the offer doesn’t meet your expectations

    • Recommended session length: 60 minutes

    • If your employer offers paid time away from work, it can be complicated. We can help you figure out how to get the most out of your paid time off benefits.

    • Information to include in request: policy and any related policies (ex: handbook addendum and the handbook itself), pertinent details related to your situation and what you’re trying to solve

    • It’s that time of year again: you need to write your performance review and don’t know where to begin. Let us help you write and understand your review in a way that highlights your accomplishments and sets a path for opportunities.

  • We have a few different rates to help accommodate different needs as outlined by our two pricing tiers. Some requests such as resume review and benefits discussion may take less time while, for example, career planning and off-boarding may require more time and thoughtful discussion. Our one-time sessions range from $20 - $150 depending on complexity and session length.

  • We offer a 10% discount to educators, non-profit employees, and students!

  • Yes! First, you need to complete the request form here. This is where you will be able to share any relevant files, a description of the issue at hand and any additional information you think may be useful.

    To get the most out of our time together, we strongly encourage including any and all pertinent information regarding your request in the preliminary form, but please do not provide any information that’s proprietary, confidential, or otherwise prohibited from being shared

  • We review all requests to make sure we’re providing you with customized, useful advice for your situation. Our maximum turn around time in reviewing requests is 48 hours, but we try to get to them as soon as possible and even offer options to expedite your request.

    We’ll send you an email and you’ll be able to schedule an appointment as soon as two business days from your purchase. If you wish to meet sooner, you can select an expedited consultation, wherein one of our HR professionals will reach back out to you within one business day.

    There are times where we review the request and realize we aren’t the best fit for your situation, and we’ll let you know why if we choose not to move forward with your request.

  • We understand that some HR inquiries need answers fast. If you would like to expedite the process, you can do so at an additional cost by selecting the specified "Expedite" box in your request form.

  • All of our HR professionals work collaboratively to make sure we’re providing high-quality guidance and options. Currently, you can book the first available appointment or you can select a specific HR professional if there’s someone you want to work with specifically or if you’re booking a follow-up session.

  • You’ll receive a link in your email once your request is reviewed.

  • While every session is unique in nature, you can typically expect the following:

    • Your HR professional will introduce themselves and summarize the issue, asking any clarifying questions.

    • We’ll help break down the issue for better understanding and provide you with options and solutions for you to use as you see fit.

    • We send you an email after the call with a summary of what was discussed and resources you can utilize.

  • Yes. We only utilize vendors, systems, and processes built on industry-leading practices in security, confidentiality, efficiency, and privacy and we will never share any of your information.

  • No, we do not record our sessions. However, we expect our clients to treat us professionally and respectfully. Should a client harass, bully, or otherwise make the session uncomfortable for the HR Partner, the session will end immediately and no refunds will be issued.
